Thanksgiving sides we're thankful for

Share:

It's safe to say that this has been a strange year. As the holiday season approaches, and we start to take stock of all that has happened this year, it's time to count our blessings. Here are some Thanksgiving sides we're thankful for. We hope they help spread an attitude of gratitude to you and yours.

Mini Hasselback Potatoes

If you're looking for an alternative to mashed potatoes this Thanksgiving, why not give these Mini Hasselback Potatoes a go? Place peeled mini yellow potatoes on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Slice them crosswise into rounds, without cutting all the way through. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with rosemary, garlic and salt and pepper. This crisp and golden side dish is ready after about 30 minutes in the oven.

Roasted Sweet Potato Salad with Baby Kale

This roasted sweet potato salad with baby kale makes for a bright, festive, and nutritious Thanksgiving side. The flavour profile is pretty much perfect thanks to the savoury crumbled feta, sweet pomegranate seeds, crunchy pumpkin seeds and tangy lime vinaigrette.

Ginger-Mustard-Miso Brussels Sprouts

If you think that you're not a fan of Brussels Sprouts, you may want to reserve judgement until after you've tried these Ginger-Mustard-Miso Brussels Sprouts. Miso is fermented soybean paste. That may not sound overly appetizing -- until you taste it! It's loaded with umami (the fifth taste). This recipe is easily made vegan and gluten-free.

Pumpkin Dinner Rolls

These pumpkin-shaped dinner rolls are an adorable and delicious addition to any Thanksgiving table. The pumpkin shape is achieved by cutting slits around the outside of dough balls, without cutting all the way into the centre. Make an indent in the centre with your finger. When the rolls are almost done, place a pecan in the indent to form a pumpkin stem.

We hope that these delicious Thanksgiving sides give you and your loved ones even more to be thankful for this year!
