Spice up your space with a stencil

Share:

Spruce up your space by using versatile stencils. This unique option is cheap, inexpensive and can enhance almost any space in your home. Hazelview Properties’ Windsor apartments are located in some of the most sought-after areas of the city including properties overlooking the Detroit River, within walking distance to the University of Windsor and in bustling downtown Windsor.

Stencil Silhouette Canvas

Making art has never been so easy or looked so great than with this DIY Silhouette Canvas Project. For this do-it-yourself piece of artwork you will need a canvas in the size of your choice, acrylic paint, old magazines, scissors, Mod Podge and sandpaper. To create this craft you first cut up your old magazines and use the Mod Podge to adhere them to your canvas. There is no rhyme or reason to this, just ensure the entire canvas is covered. Once it’s dry, trace your silhouette/stencil with a pencil on the canvas and then paint over the remaining canvas.

Stencil Coasters

Incorporate stencils into your home accessories with these simple yet elegant Stenciled Coasters. These unique coasters are made from recycled CDs or DVDs and are great to have around the home and to give as gifts. All you need are a couple of recycled CDs or DVDs, sandpaper, glue, felt, scissors, matte varnish, acrylic paint and your chosen stencil. Start by sanding the CD until the coating is removed and painting it in the colour of your choice. Stencil on the designs, add clear varnish and attach your felt to the back of the CD’s. Voila, you’re done! Supplies for your Stencil Coasters can be found at Dollarama, located less than a ten-minute walk from Hazelview Properties’ 7890 St. Rose Avenue Apartments.

Stenciled Tables

Create a unique piece of furniture by incorporating some beautiful stencils onto it. This is a quick and easy way to spruce up a boring old piece of furniture and to breathe new life into it. Try these Bamboo Veneered Side Tables for the perfect stenciled table. You will need a table, large sheets of newsprint, paper-backed bamboo veneer, adhesive, photos of flowers, double-sided tape, sandpaper, polyurethane and master’s tape. For the full instructions including picture demonstrations, be sure to check out the Crafty Nest website.

Stenciled Cabinet Doors

This Stenciled Cabinet Doors project involves applying a beautiful stencil to the glass window of a dining room cabinet. This could easily be adapted to a number of other pieces of furniture and fixtures. For this project you will need a stencil, white acrylic paint and a sponge stencil brush. Walmart is only a five-minute drive from Hazelview Properties’ 1400 Ouellette Avenue Apartments and is a convenient and inexpensive place to pick up supplies for all of your stencil projects.

Add a little excitement into your apartment by incorporating stencils. This is a fun way to customize your home décor without spending lots of money or causing any damage to your apartment.
