Making the Most of your Home: Our favourite apartment living sites

Share:

It’s the first post of Hazelview Living! We are excited to launch our new blog and hope you’ll follow our weekly posts as we will cover everything that makes living in a Hazelview community unique. With our growth over the past twelve years, we now own and operate more than 16,000residential suites across Canada, so you could say that we know a thing or two about apartment living. We’re thrilled to get online and start sharing Hazelview’s stories with you! Today, we’re covering some of our favourite websites for apartment living. (Be warned, all of these sites are highly addictive, so set aside some time to really explore and lose a few hours online.)

ApartmentTherapy.com

Since 2007, Apartment Therapy has been on a mission to connect renters to the resources needed to improve their homes while advocating for simple elegance. This is an amazing online resource that inspires renters to make their homes more beautiful, organized and healthy. Want to learn the basics of home design?  Find some DIY weekend projects? Get inspired by some amazing apartment tours? Connect with other like-minded renters? Then this is the site for you! What we especially love about Apartment Therapy is that there is no cookie-cutter definition of style or design. Their articles feature a range of spaces and budgets to offer unique inspiration that suits any taste.

Thekitchn.com

The sister site to Apartment Therapy, The Kitchn publishes approximately 20 short articles each day. As the name suggests, these posts focus on home cooking. We’ve found a ton of great recipes, home cooking lessons and kitchen décor advice here.  This is an accessible site for even the most amateur at-home chefs but it also features challenging recipes for anyone channeling their inner Julia Child. There’s also a great focus on seasonal and local foods. This site proves that a rental kitchen is the perfect setting for exploring great cuisine.

IkeaHackers.net

Make even the most ubiquitous Ikea pieces unique with IkeaHackers. This compendium site focuses on tips and tricks to repurpose Ikea products. Driven by fan suggestions, the hacks vary in skill level. Some suggest adding a simple embellishment while others are more labour-intensive projects. Admittedly, some of these hacks aren’t the most practical for apartment living, but they’re often good for a giggle! IkeaHackers has been up and running since 2006 so readers are sure to find ideas that cover the room or product they’re looking to upgrade. We love the Billy Bookcase hacks; we found suggestions to make a new bedside table, a new bar, shoe storage and even a nightstand.
